Type Designation Guide

The letters used in the cable type designations have the following meanings according to the certificate attached sheet:

• C: shipboard power cable

• J: XLPE insulation

• E: EPR insulation

• PJ: cross-linked polyolefin insulation or sheath

• PF: thermoplastic polyolefin insulation or sheath

• F: polychloroprene rubber sheath

• SC: bunched cable flame retardant, low smoke and halogen free

• NA(NSA): bunched cable flame retardant, fire resistance

• NC(NSC): bunched cable flame retardant, fire resistance, low smoke and halogen free

• DA: flame retardant type tested to IEC 60332-1-2

• SA: flame retardant type tested to IEC 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-3-22

• 8: copper wire or tinned copper wire braid

• 9: galvanized steel wire braid

• 5: cross-linked polyolefin outer sheath

• 6: thermoplastic polyolefin outer sheath

• 0: no outer sheath

The type test was carried out according to the following standards:

• IEC 60092-353: power cables for rated voltages 1kV and 3kV

Application

This certificate applies to shipboard low voltage power cables used in marine power distribution systems on vessels and offshore units where NK related type tested cable is required. Depending on the type designation, the covered cables can be used for general power, lighting and control circuits with flame retardant, fire resistant, low smoke and halogen free performance.
