NEK 606 Mud Resistant Cable

Overview

NEK 606 mud resistant cable is designed for offshore drilling platforms, drill ships and mud zone areas where cables are exposed to drilling mud, oil, chemicals and harsh deck environments. Compared with standard marine cable, the mud resistant design uses special oil and chemical resistant compounds to prevent sheath swelling, cracking and performance degradation.

Typical Construction

• Conductor: tinned stranded copper, class 2 or class 5
• Insulation: EPR or XLPE, 90°C rated
• Screen: optional copper wire braid or metallic tape with drain wire
• Armour: optional galvanized steel wire braid or steel tape for mechanical protection
• Outer sheath: special oil resistant, mud resistant, halogen free and low smoke compound, SHF2 type
• Voltage: 0.6/1kV for power types, 150/250V for control and instrumentation types

Core configurations and sizes are customized according to project specifications, for example 3x2.5, 4x4, 3x25+1x16, 7x1.5, 12x2.5, 19x1.5 and multi-pair screened designs.
