Pair counts from 1P to 37P including 24P, 30P and 37P configurations, with conductor sizes from 0.5mm2 to 2.5mm2 and temperature class 90°C. Construction per the certificate: stranded tinned annealed copper or annealed copper conductors per IEC 60228 class 2, XLPE insulation, pair screening of tinned copper wire braid or aluminum/polyester tape with a copper drain wire, SHF1 or SHF2 inner sheath, copper wire or galvanized steel wire braid armour, and SHF1 or SHF2 outer sheath.
Type Designation Guide
Per the certificate appendix: CH designates shipboard communication and instrumentation cable; J designates XLPE insulation; PF designates halogen free flame retardant thermoplastic compound SHF1 and PJ the thermoset SHF2; P designates pair screening with tinned copper wire braid or aluminum/polyester tape with copper drain wire; 8 designates copper or tinned copper wire braid armour and 9 galvanized steel wire braid; 5 designates SHF2 outer sheath, 6 SHF1, 0 no outer sheath. Flammability codes: SC bunched cable flame retardant low smoke halogen free, and NC or NSC bunched cable flame retardant with fire resistance, low smoke and halogen free.

Type test reports referenced in the certificate include CT16-1093 dated 7 April 2016, CT16-3473-5 and CT16-3473-6 dated 19 September 2016, and TN24-1618A1E dated 13 May 2024. Approved documents include the technical specifications for shipboard communication and instrumentation cable including flame retardant versions dated November 2023, and for fire resistant versions. Cable marking includes voltage grade, cable symbol, number of conductors and conductor size, flame retardant type, manufacturer name, year of manufacture and applied cable version.
