Type Designation Guide

Per the certificate enclosure, the letters used in the type designations have the following meanings: C for shipboard power cable, J for XLPE insulation, E for EPR insulation, PJ for cross-linked polyolefin and PF for thermoplastic polyolefin, F for polychloroprene rubber, 8 for copper or tinned copper wire braid armour, 9 for galvanized steel wire braid armour, 5 for cross-linked polyolefin outer sheath and 6 for thermoplastic polyolefin outer sheath. Flammability codes: DA for single cable flame retardant, SA for bunched flame retardant, NA or NSA for bunched flame retardant with fire resistance, SC for bunched flame retardant low smoke halogen free, and NC or NSC for bunched flame retardant fire resistant low smoke halogen free.

Testing and Documentation

Type testing is documented through China National Centre for Quality Supervision and Test of Electric Wire and Cable reports CT16-3471-1/2/3/4, CT12-2618-2/6/7 and CT12-4877-3, and Shanghai Intelligent Service and Technology reports TN24-1612E, TN24-1613E and TN24-1614E. An asbestos-free declaration and routine test reports signed by the attending surveyor are filed with RINA.
